The
big island of Hawaii is almost twice as large as all the other Hawaiian
islands combined. Befitting its grand size, the island offers many things to
see and do – from historical sightseeing to wine tasting, and even winter snow
skiing.
Steeped in history, the big island is considered the
cradle of Hawaiian civilization. Three kings were born here, including
Kamehameha the Great, who united all of the islands under one rule in Kailua-Kona.
Sites include King Kalakaua's summer palace, and the famous temple of Ahuena
Heiau. This historic coastal town also boasts restaurants, shops and water
sports. The Kohala coast is home to many of the island's grand resort hotels.
Hilo is a picturesque town surrounded by rainforest, waterfalls and orchid
farms. It is located at the gateway to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park – the
steamy home of Kilauea, the world's most active volcano. So come enjoy the
many sides of the big island of Hawaii. |

surrounded by lush vegetation, sparkling ocean waters and stunning
white-sand beaches. The Resort’s 243 expansive bungalow-style guest rooms,
including 31 suites, feature private, furnished lanais and stunning ocean
views. Some of the lower-level guest rooms and suites also offer outdoor
gardens and lava rock showers.
Located oceanfront, beside the Beach Tree Bar & Grill in the
Beach Tree crescent, this pool is heated for guests' comfort. Attendants
offer poolside beverage service and Evian spritz. A whirlpool is nearby.
The Hualalai Sports Club and Spa is uniquely Hawaiian,
reflecting the aloha spirit of the islands' golden age. The lap pool,
whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms and cold plunges are all set amidst the
tropical gardens. Even exotic spa treatments or massage can be enjoyed in
the open air, secluded behind bamboo screens. The locker facilities offer
both indoor and outdoor showers. Spa services are available to guests 14
years and older.
In an ongoing effort to provide our guests with the
finest fitness options, the Hualalai Sports Club & Spa offers a new
Resistance and Strength Studio featuring the latest in workout equipment.
Like all the other splendid amenities of the Resort,
the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus designed Hualalai Golf Course has been crafted
with extreme sensitivity to the land. Winding over 7,100 yards, this
carefully groomed course begins in a lush kipuka (oasis) and then flows
across brilliant green fairways contoured against black lava. Finally, the
course returns to the ocean, where the finishing holes capture the drama
and the beauty of direct seaside golf. After an exhilarating game, relax
in the clubhouse where tropical refreshments, ocean views and a
club-away-from-home experience await you.
