The Virgin Islands offer everything you could want for an exotic Caribbean
vacation: a warm, sunny climate, white sand beaches and lush tropical scenery.
In St. Thomas and St. John, which are part of the U.S.V.I., Americans can do
all this without ever leaving the country. English is the language, American
dollars are the currency, and paradise is the best description of what awaits
the visitor to the Virgin Islands. Tortola and Virgin Gorda are part of the
British Virgin Islands and offer the same familiarity but with a British
twist. Although clustered together, each of these Virgin Islands has its own
personality. You can even explore all of them on the same vacation by Island
hopping. |

Biras Creek is a 140-acre Relais &
Chateaux resort that nestles in a secluded spot on the island of
Virgin Gorda. Biras Creek can only be reached by boat, and is
touched by water on three sides. The open Atlantic, a Caribbean Bay
and an enormous protected lagoon make staying here a paradise for
swimming, snorkeling and sailing off the resort's stunning white sand
beach. The hills surrounding the resort are laced with hiking trails
that provide dramatic views of the rich flora and fauna to be found
here.
The hub of Biras Creek is a hilltop stone
"castle" housing the reception area and the Arawak Pavilion with its
big screen satellite TV, snooker room and library. At the top is the
bar and restaurant where the award-winning haute cuisine menu and a
fine selection of wines are fitting partners to the stunning sunsets
and breathtaking views.
Complimentary recreational options include fresh-water
pool, OmniCourt tennis courts lit for night play, Hobie Cats,
Sunfish, Lasers, Windsurfers and Kayaks. Each guest is given a
bicycle for resort transportation and a private motorized
dinghy boat to sail the local waters.
21 suites are dotted along the Atlantic shore and an
additional nine have garden landscape views. Decorated in bright
Caribbean colors they are designed with total privacy in mind and
have sitting room, bedroom, garden shower, air-conditioning, direct
dial telephone and verandah. Two Grand Suites and two- bedroom
Premier Suite offer even more luxurious alternatives. |
